I’m so excited to be part of an amazing group of educators here at Montegut Elementary as our school’s Mild/Moderate Inclusion Teacher, working with students in every grade (Pre-K to 4).  I am a 1983 graduate of Thibodaux High School.  I earned a B.A. degree in Mass Communications from Nicholls in 1989.

Growing up, radio was my dream job.  One day after baseball practice, I rode my bike to the KXOR studios in Thibodaux, still wearing my uniform.  I met two gentlemen at the station and asked them if they had any job openings.  I remember telling them that I always wanted to work in radio, and that I would clean their bathrooms and empty trash, or do anything they needed me to.  To my great surprise, one of them asked, “Can you go on-the-air tonight?!”  It just so happened that the entire staff had all quit earlier that day.  I worked weekends and eventually found my “radio voice” and a spot in afternoon drive during my six years at KXOR.  After college, I became Program Director at KBAU in Golden Meadow (Bayou 94) which led to a five-year run as “Mark Murphy in the afternoon” on C-107 in Houma (KCIL) from 1992 to 1997.  I was allowed to be a substitute teacher in Terrebonne schools during my last year in radio – subbing during the day and going in to do my show after school.  I went on to work as a cable television producer, then in the oilfield for a few years before returning to classrooms in spring 2015 as a sub in several schools in Terrebonne Parish.  Montegut Elementary School was my absolute favorite, and now I’m blessed to be a part of the wonderful faculty, full time.

I am married to a wonderful lady from Chauvin, Mary, the youngest of nine children to Easton and Blanche Pellegrin.  We wed in 1987 and were blessed with a near-perfect daughter, Ellen Blanche, in 2000.  Ellen tried out and made the freshman softball and volleyball teams at South Terrebonne High School.  Her parents are super excited that their little girl is a scholar athlete at S.T.  (Geaux Gators!)

Thanks to everyone at MES for being so welcoming and supportive!
